Alexis Wright Named To Jamaica’s U20 Team

Feb 24, 2022

BERKELEY – Cal freshman Alexis Wright was named to the Jamaica U-20 Roster for the upcoming 2022 Concacaf Women's Under-20 Championship.

The 2022 Concacaf Women's Under-20 Championship will run from Feb. 25-March 12 in the Dominican Republic.

Wright completed her freshman season with the Bears in the fall as she played in 12 games and made three starts. She ranked third on the team with two assists as she set up goals in Cal's wins over Oregon State and Arizona.

"It's exciting to see Alexis being given this opportunity at the international level," Cal head coach Neil McGuire said. "She is a player with potential to do great things and we are really happy for her. This experience will be very valuable for her."

Wright will join fellow Cal freshman Ayo Oke in playing in the tournament as Oke will represent the United States. Cal senior Sydney Collins was recently called up to the U.S. U23 National Team for their upcoming games at the Thorns Preseason Tournament.

Jamaica will open play on February 26 as they take on Guatemala. That will be followed with a February 28 match against Cuba and a March 2 contest vs. Haiti. The top three teams from the four-team group will advance to the next round.

Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2002, are age-eligible for the 2022 Concacaf Women's U-20
Championship.
