As a stand-in for the canceled MPSF Indoor Championships, Cal track & field is set to face the best in the conference at the Pac-12 Invitational this weekend in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March. The Pac-12 Invite lasts from Feb. 25-26 at the Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, commencing at 12:00 p.m. PT on Friday and at 10:00 a.m. PT on Saturday.

The Bears will field their best athletes over the next two days, many of whom are hoping to improve their spots on Cal's All-Time Top 10 lists. In total, the team has set 21 new marks on those lists in 2022, 10 of them reached by freshman or transfers.

Cal's No. 5 shot put squad has paced the Bears on the men's side, led by senior Josh Johnson and sophomore Jeff Duensing, who respectively stand as the program's No. 2 and No. 3 indoor shot putters of all time. Johnson is currently ranked at No. 15 as an individual in the 2022 Division I season.

Two women's event squads represent the Bears on the Division I Top 25 lists. The No. 13 weight throw unit led by senior Camryn Rogers (ranked No. 14 as an individual and No. 1 in school history) and junior Anna Purchase, who ranks seventh in program history. Meanwhile, junior Asha Fletcher (No. 4 in Cal history) and senior Felicia Renelus (No. 8 in Cal history) have carried the bulk of the load for the Bears in the women's long jump this season, helping the squad to a tie for rank No. 22 in Division I.

California will face some other formidable teams over the weekend. Host Washington has the No. 14 men's and No. 15 women's team in all of Division I, while neighboring Oregon boasts the No. 16 men's and No. 14 women's teams. USC fields a pair of their own powerhouses with their 20th-ranked men's team and their 18th-ranked women's team, while Arizona State (No. 24 men) and Colorado (No. 20 women) round out the group.
