FIRST SERVE
The nationally-ranked Utah Women's Tennis will be hosting two teams this weekend when they host in-state rival BYU and Northern Arizona. The Utes and Cougars will match up on Friday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m. MT. Utah will finish the week with a matchup against Northern Arizona on Sunday at 9 a.m. MT. This will be the first meeting between Utah and Northern Arizona.

LOOKING FOR 13-STRAIGHT
Friday night, the Utes will be looking for their 13th straight win over rival BYU.
MATCH DAY PROMOTION
We have a lot going on Friday night against in-state rival BYU. The first 50 fans will receive free pizza and a t-shirt. Fans will also have a chance to win a TV. You will need to register to win the TV at the marketing table once at the tennis match.
ITA NATIONAL TEAM RANKINGS
The initial computerized ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Women's team rankings were released on February 23, 2022. The ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Women's Team Rankings feature the nation's Top 75 teams. For more information on how the rankings are calculated and the algorithm used in the calculations.
The Utes entered the ITA National Team Rankings on Wednesday as the 33rd ranked team in the nation. Utah is currently 9-1 on the season.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah played Denver on Saturday, Feb 19. The Utes were able to come away with 3 points, all in singles.
Madison Tattini finished first, winning both sets, 6-2, 6-1. Lindsay Hung was the next to gain the Utes a point in her remarkable match against Andrea Burguete. Hung lost her first set, 6-2, but made it up in the second and third set, 6-3, 6-1. Utah's last point came from Anastasia Goncharova. Goncharova came away with her first set, 6-0, but lost the second 6-4, sending the match into a third tie-breaking set. She won her victory, 6-3, in the last set.
Anya Lamoreaux put up a tough fight against Denver Player Toni Nelson. Lamoreaux kept close to her opponent in the first set but lost 6-4. In the second set, the two competitors traded games until Lamoreaux was able to tie up the set, 5-5. She was then narrowly defeated, 7-5.
LAST TIME VS BYU AND NORTHERN ARIZONA
Utah last played BYU on Feb. 24, 2016. The Utes won the match 7-0 against the Cougars. The Utes have never played Northern Arizona.
SCOUTING BYU
BYU enters this weekend ranked No. 54 in the ITA National Team Rankings and are 4-6 on the season. BYU is coming off a 7-0 victory over Nevada on Feb. 18. They have won three of their last four matches. BYU faced Washington State earlier this year and lost 6-1. Last Season, BYU went 15-9, with their winningest player being Leah Heimuli, with 15 wins to 8 losses.
SCOUTING NORTHERN ARIZONA
Northern Arizona comes to Utah this weekend and will face Weber State on Friday and Utah on Sunday. They enter the weekend with a record of 1-3 on the season. The lone win for Northern Arizona came against New Mexico on Feb. 4. The Lumberjacks were picked to win the Big Sky and return its same primary six players from a season ago. This season, Northern Arizona hasn't won a doubles match and is 9-15 in singles matches. A trio of Lumberjacks have two wins, which leads the team.
TOP TEN RECRUITING CLASS
The Utah women's tennis team earned a top ten recruiting class for the first time in school history. The Utes earned the ninth-ranked class by the Tennis Recruiting Network. Utah has signed three for next season. Kaila Barksdale, Yasmin Ezzat, and Marcela Lopez have all signed to join the Utes for the 2022-23 season. To find out more about the class, click here.
TOP AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS
Universal Tennis took a look at the top 10 ranked college players from Australia. The results are based on the UTR Ranking. Utah's Linda Huang came in fourth on the list. Her ranking is 10.23 from the UTR Rating.

Utah open's Pac-12 play on Friday, March 4th, when they host USC at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. MT.
