Arizona Defeats Alabama 4-1 in Round 1 of Blue Gray

Montgomery, Ala. - The Wildcats started off the Blue Gray Tennis Classic with a 4-1 win over University of Alabama in round one. 

The teams competed only in singles and four Cats walked away with the points to secure the win. Filip Malbasic finished first beating Rudi Christiansen in two straight sets 6-2. No. 71 Colton Smith came off the court next after he defeated German Samofalov 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. 

Taking the third singles point for Arizona was No. 120 Gustaf Strom with a 6-1, 7-6(7-5) win over Enzo Aguiard. And finalizing the round one win for the Wildcats was Carlos Hassey who defeated Joao Ferreira 6-7(3-7), 6-3, 6-2. 

No. 19 Arizona started off round two against No. 30 Middle Tennessee. The Cats dropped the doubles point, but will finish the match in singles competition tomorrow morning on Saturday, Feb. 26.
