Gym Cats Beat Utah for the First Time in Program History

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Gym Cats posted their first ever win over Utah with a final score of 196.850. Their win featured five 9.900s or above, five career records, three season records and a 49+ on each event. Four Gym Cats, Elena Deets, Caroline Herry, Malia Hargrove and Sirena Linton all recorded the highest scores of the night with 9.900s or above. 

"This is what we are capable of doing, and we showed up," Head Coach John Court said. "We had some bend, but don't break moments -- and you know, all the credit goes to the athletes and the coaches in the training staff."

"They're a special group -- and they're peaking at the right time," Court Said.

Elena Deets scored a career, and event, high of 9.000 on bars and competed on the floor for the first time this season, scoring a career tie of 9.850. 

"I can't really believe it, it's just crazy," Deets said. "It was so much fun today. We were just doing what we needed to do, and we were hitting our teams like, we know we can. It was just awesome to be a part of." 

Vault
The Gym Cats saw a score of 49.075 on vault. The Wildcats scored their highest vault score of the season with a combined 49.075. Both Hargrove and Emily Mueller scored 9.850 on their vaults with Muller seeing a career record and Hargrove tying her season high. Danielle Nosek came in just behind the pair, scoring a 9.825. 

Bars
The Cats finished the second rotation with a 49.200. Deets was the highest performer on the bars, scoring a career high of 9.900. Mackinzie Kane and Emily Mueller both scored career highs of 9.875 and 9.825. Hargrove finished with a 9.825, her season best. 

Beam
The Gym Cats second best event resulted in a 49.275. Hargrove and Sirena Linton had record setting 9.925s with Hargrove's being her career best. Mueller finished with a 9.825 and Deets and Caroline Herry posted 9.800s.

Floor
Arizona posted a 49.300 in their best, and final, event. Herry scored the highest of the event with a 9.900. Deets competed in the event for the first time this season, earning a 9.850. Libby Orman posted a season high of 9.850. Nosek had a season high of 9.800 and Hargrove finished off the meet with a 9.850.

All Around
Malia Hargrove and Emily Mueller competed in the All-Around Event. Hargrove came in second with a career high of 39.450. Mueller placed third in the event with a 39.350.
