Oregon State DMR Team Smashes School Record on First Day of Pac-12 Invitational

Feb 25, 2022

SEATTLE, Wash. – Oregon State's distance medley relay (DMR) team smashed the previous OSU school record to close out the first day of competition at the Pac-12 Invitational in Seattle, Wash. on Friday.

"We really had an amazing day," said head coach Louie Quintana. "The women were competing hard in the weight throw and that set the tone for the day. Junior Anneke Moersdorf and sophomore Delaney Bahn continued to show our developed balance in our program by having a good multi-event. But the capper to this evening was the DMR. Each leg competed fiercely and we gave Oregon all they could handle. That mark is going to get us into the NCAAs and shows the incredible growth of this program. We are going to enjoy this moment but are excited about what we have going tomorrow."

The team of redshirt junior Kaylee Mitchell, sophomore Adael Scatena, senior Mari Friedman, and redshirt junior Grace Fetherstonhaugh posted a time of 10:57.35 in the DMR, smashing the previous record of 11:24.59, set in 2017. The team finished second overall in Seattle and currently ranks sixth nationally. The top 12 relay teams in the nation will punch their tickets to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala., Mar. 11-12.

In the pentathlon, Bahn finished seventh with 3623 points, surpassing her previous personal-best of 3492 points, which she set in Spokane, Wash. on Feb. 3. She remains fifth in the Oregon State all-time list in the event. Moersdorf and Bahn both clocked personal-bests in the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles with times of 8.86 and 9.04, respectively. Moersdorf's time moves her to fifth in the Oregon State all-time list in the 60-meter hurdles, while Bahn's time moves her to seventh In the pentathlon high jump, Bahn tied for third with an indoor personal-best of 1.66m (5' 5.25"), she also took fifth in the pentathlon long jump with a leap of 5.63m (18' 5.75").
