SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah men's basketball team closes out the weekend series hosting Arizona State this Saturday, Feb. 26, at 8 p.m. (MT) inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Dave Feldman will once again have the call alongside former Maryland guard Adrian Branch as the Runnin' Utes look to avoid the season sweep against the Sun Devils on the ESPNU broadcast. In the six seasons Utah has played ASU home-and-home in a single-year since joining the Pac-12, the Utes have swept the Sun Devils once (2014-15) and have split the other five seasons.
LAST TIME OUT
The Runnin' Utes did their best to keep pace with #2/2 Arizona this past Thursday but a 26-5 run in the final 6:12 of the first half aided by 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from deep by Kerr Kriisa gave the Wildcats a commanding 53-33 lead at halftime that it never relinquished the rest of the way. Kriisa finished the night with Arizona's first triple-double since Andre Iguodala (2004) with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Branden Carlson made the start for Utah after rolling his ankle last Saturday at Cal and finished with 10 points with three rebounds. Gabe Madsen led the Utes with 15 points on 4-of-8 from long range while David Jenkins Jr. chipped in with 14 points and tied with a team-high six rebounds. Both Gach rounded things out with 13 points for Utah off the bench.
UP NEXT
Utah will get a few extra days to prep for Colorado as the Utes entertain the Buffs inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center next Saturday, March 5, in their final game of the regular-season on ESPNU. Tip-off between the Runnin' Utes and Buffaloes is set for 7:30 p.m. (MT) on ESPNU.
LOOKING AHEAD
As the season winds down, Utah will have a short turnaround after closing out the regular-season as it heads to Las Vegas for the Pac-12 Tournament (March 9-12). The Runnin' Utes will open play inside T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday, March 9, at either 7 p.m. (MT) or 9:30 p.m. (MT) as the 10th or 11th seed based on results from the final two games of the regular-season. Both games are slated to air on Pac-12 Networks.
