'White Out The Wildcats' When No. 16 USC Men’s Basketball Hosts No. 2 Arizona On Tuesday

Feb 25, 2022

It will be "White Out The Wildcats" when the No. 16-ranked USC men's basketball team hosts No. 2 Arizona—currently slotted by the selection committee as a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament—at 8 p.m. PT this Tuesday (March 1) in the Galen Center.

USC's final home game of 2022 will be the first time that it has hosted a team ranked that high since 2014, when the Trojans welcomed No. 1 Arizona to the Galen Center.  The last time USC defeated a team ranked that high was when it beat No. 2 Arizona in the Sports Arena in 2000, 80-72.

Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game.  The first 1,000 students will be given free white USC T-shirts.  USC's players will be in their white uniforms, wearing new white NIKE shoes.

USC will set aside 1,000 additional free seats for students in an attempt to break for the second time in less than three weeks the Galen record for student attendance (2,681), which was set in a victory over then-No. 12 UCLA on Feb. 12.

"We challenged our students to break the student attendance record for the game against UCLA, and we're so proud and grateful they delivered," said USC athletic director Mike Bohn.  "The atmosphere was incredible, and it was a difference maker for our team.  Let's do it again!  Our students are our heartbeat, and we're thrilled to make even more free student tickets available for this game so we can break our own record."

Added USC head coach Andy Enfield:  "In our past few home games, we've had tremendous crowds and a loud arena.  We love it.  Our student section provided such a great atmosphere, it gave us energy.  We'd love to see that again against Arizona."

In support of cancer awareness, the Trojans will be in just-released white NIKE shoes with a hint of pink that are part of the Kay Yow Collection, which were produced in honor of the late Naismith Hall of Fame women's coach at North Carolina State who battled breast cancer.

USC is 24-4 overall, tied for its most wins ever in the regular season, and in second place in the Pac-12 at 13-4 heading into Saturday's (Feb. 26) game at Oregon.

Arizona is 25-2 overall and sits atop the Pac-12 standings at 15-1 going into its Saturday game at Colorado.
