Cal Concludes Homestand Saturday Against UC Davis

CAL CONCLUDES HOMESTAND SATURDAY AGAINST UC DAVIS
— Cal will conclude its current three-game homestand Sunday by hosting UC Davis in a non-conference game at FTX Field at California Memorial Stadium with first draw scheduled for 2 pm PT
— Saturday's contest is the first of two scheduled meetings between Cal and UC Davis in 2022 with the other slated for April 16 in Davis
— Cal has started the 2022 campaign with four consecutive losses (at Navy, at No. 11/11 Virginia, San Diego State, No. 15/15 Denver), while UC Davis was a winner over San Diego State last Sunday in the lone game the Aggies have played this season 
— Cal has a 14-10 all-time record against UC Davis but the Aggies have been victorious in each of the last four meetings in the series with the most recent Cal win a 16-13 decision in Berkeley on Feb. 22, 2019
— The Aggies won the only 2020 meeting between the teams and all three times the clubs squared off in 2021
— Cal has the top winning streak in the series with eight straight victories from Apr. 21, 2001 through March 8, 2009          
— Saturday's forecast in Berkeley calls for a gametime temperature of 58 degrees with cloudy skies and winds out of the west/southwest at five miles per hour 
  
BUSY SATURDAY FOR THE BEARS
— Lacrosse is one of 12 Cal teams taking part in 15 events Saturday
— Other women's teams in action include basketball, beach volleyball, indoor track and field, softball, and swimming and diving, while the men's teams playing are baseball, basketball, indoor track and field, rugby, swimming and diving, and tennis   

AMANDA MORSE AND LIZ SCOTT LEADING THE OFFENSE
— Amanda Morse and Liz Scott have combined for 16 of Cal's 26 goals through the first four games with Morse's team-high nine followed by Scott's seven
— Morse and Scott have both garnered the first two hat tricks of their career in 2022 with Morse getting three goals at Navy and against San Diego State, while Scott also had three at Navy and then again against No. 15/15 Denver  

BEARS HOLDING THEIR OWN IN ON DRAW CONTROLS
— Cal's 53 draw controls are two shy of their opponents' 55 with the Golden Bears holding a 19-10 advantage in the season-opener at Navy and equaling the 13 registered by San Diego State

ROOKIE KENNEDY MASON MAKES EARLY IMPACT
— Freshman Kennedy Mason scored a goal in each of her first two games of action with the Golden Bears last Friday against San Diego State and Sunday vs. Denver 
— Mason's two goals is tied for third on the Golden Bears along with Lily Berger and Olivia Dey 

STRONG STARTS
— Cal has started strong in two of its first four games, holding a 3-2 lead early in the second quarter at Virginia and a 3-1 margin after the first quarter against San Diego State

2022 DEDICATION GAMES
— Cal held its first dedication game of the 2022 season last Sunday against No. 15/15 Denver when former Cal lacrosse player the late Stephanie Smith, who played at Cal from 2006-09 and passed away from cancer in 2018, was honored at a halftime ceremony and with Cal wearing Steph Strong tee-shirts
— Cal's remaining 2022 dedication games are scheduled to include Bears United, Morgan's Message, Oakland Lacrosse, One Love and a gear drive, with dates and details of each still to be announced

— Nikki Zaccaro is Cal's active leader in career games played (65), games started (55), points (129), goals (55), assists (74), shots (175) and shots on goal (114)
— Cal has a pair of sisters on the roster (Caroline and Catherine Roxas; Kennedy and Quinnlyn Mason)
