Men's Golf to Tee It Up at Cabo Collegiate

Feb 26, 2022

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Arizona Men's Golf will make its international return to the college golf schedule as part of the Cabo Collegiate field, teeing off on Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Cabo del Sol Golf Course. The Wildcats return to the event in Mexico after making their initial appearance in 2019 when they finished in fifth place out of 13 teams.

"Our team is ready to showcase the quality golf we have been playing throughout the spring," said head coach Jim Anderson. "We've carded great scores through multiple days of every tournament this spring, and I feel really good about how we have practiced and prepared for this event."

Arizona is coming off a runner-up finish at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai'i last week, which followed up the program's team and individual wins at the Arizona Intercollegiate at the end of January. Sam Sommerhauser carded the Cats' lowest score at the John Burns Intercollegiate with 7-under par showing that put him in a tie for sixth. It matched the sophomore's best career tournament finish.

The Wildcats are part of a field that includes nine teams ranked in the top 30 in GolfStat rankings. Graduate senior Christian Banke enters this weekend with Arizona's best scoring average on the season at 70.28 after winning the Arizona Intercollegiate for his first ever collegiate victory.
