USC Track & Field Wins Five Events During Final Day Of Inaugural Pac-12 Invitational

Alyssa Brewer won the women's 800m, Jasmine Jones the women's 60m hurdles, Jan'Taijah Ford the women's 400m, Earnest Sears III the men's high jump and the women's 4x400m relay cruised to victory to lead the Trojans during the final day of the Pac-12 Invitational in Seattle, Wash. today (Feb. 26).

  • Brewer won the women's 800m with a time of 2:05.07.  Teammate Gigi Maccagnini placed second with a season-best time of 2:06.40 to better her fifth-place standing on USC's all-time indoor list.  Janiah Brown had a time of 2:10.37 to take eighth place in the 800m.
  • Jones won the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.06.  Only one other finalist had a sub-8.30 time.
  • Jan'Taijah Ford won the women's 400m with a time of 52.41 and Kimberly Harris was fourth with a time of 53.18.
  • Earnest Sears III won the men's high jump with a clearance of 7-2.50 (2.20m).  He entered the competition at 6-9.75 (2.08m) and cleared that on his second attempt, made 6-11.75 (2.13m) on his first attempt, passed at 7-1.50 (2.17m) and cleared 7-2.50(2.20m) in his second attempt to win the event.
  • The women's 4x400m relay team of Bailey Lear, Chioma Okonkwo, Jones and Ford posted a season-best time of 3:31.49 to win the event by over a second.
  • Kasaun James placed second in the men's 60m with a time of 6.60.  Brendon Steward placed third in the men's 60m with a time of 6.62 and Eric Allen Jr. placed eighth with a time of 6.88.
  • Nicholas Ramey placed second in the men's 400m with a season-best time of 46.42.  Johnnie Blockburger had an indoor 400m PR of 46.59 to finish third and better his seventh-place standing on USC's all-time list. 
  • The men's 4x400m relay team of Ramey, Blockburger, Ashton Allen and James finished third with a time of 3:06.61.
  • Bobby Poynter had a PR of 1:49.26 to finish fourth in the men's 800m and move from seventh to fourth on USC's all-time indoor 800m list.  Sam VanDorpe finished fifth with a season-best time of 1:50.63 and Jack Carter had a PR of 1:52.80 to place 10th and move into ninth on USC's all-time list.
  • Dallas Wise competed in his first triple jump competition as a Trojan and placed third with a best jump of 48-4.75 (14.75m).  That triple jump mark is a career best for Wise.

USC will next compete indoors at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships from March 10-12 in Birmingham, Ala.  USC will open the outdoor season on March 5 at the Long Beach Opener in Long Beach, Calif.
