CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Maya Brady blasted the Bruins' first grand slam of the season in the first inning to help the No. 6 UCLA softball team to a 7-5 victory over No. 16 Missouri in the Mary Nutter Classic finale on Sunday afternoon.

Brady has now homered in three straight games and recorded eight RBI in that stretch.

Redshirt junior Anna Vines, who is now riding a four-game hitting streak, knocked in another UCLA (12-3) run in the bottom half of the second. Vines finished the day 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Bruins. She finished the tournament 6-for-14 with three RBI.

Savannah Pola stepped in the batter's box next and doubled in two more runs with a hit to left field.

The Tigers (12-4) hit four solo home runs, including two in the fifth inning, off starting pitcher Megan Faraimo. Missouri's final homer by Kendyll Bailey in the sixth inning forced UCLA's hand to the bullpen, turning the ball over to redshirt senior Holly Azevedo.

Azevedo allowed two singles and one more run to score in the sixth, 7-5, before closing out the game with her first save of the season.

UCLA plays its next preseason tournament beginning Thursday, March 3 at the Judi Garman Classic at Anderson Family Field in Fullerton, Calif., and ending Saturday, March 5. The Bruins will play Cal Poly at 10 a.m. PT to begin the five-game weekend.

No streaming service has been announced for the tournament.
