No Doubt About It!

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Jordan Dail and Raegan Breedlove threw a combined no-hitter against Long Beach State Sunday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
The Ducks (11-3) scored four runs in the fourth and added Ariel Carlson's third home run of the season in the sixth for a 5-0 win.
"I loved how efficient Jordan was," said coach Melyssa Lombardi. "She came right at the strike zone a challenged hitters."
How it Happened: Dail retired the first nine batters she faced before allowing a leadoff walk in the fourth. She then retired the next six batters to get through the fourth and fifth innings.
Dail ran into trouble in the sixth. She hit a batter and walked two more to load the bases, but got Sinclair Lawhorn to fly out to Hannah Galey in left to end the inning.
"I try not to think about those things," said. Dail. "Any time that crosses my mind I think, 'do you. Keep working on what you're doing' and don't even worry about the rest it'll happen if it happens."
In the top of the seventh, pinch-hitter Tiffany Iliff reached on an error before Dail hit pinch-hitter Savannah Magadan with a pitch.
Breedlove came on in relief and struck out the first batter she faced before getting a game-ending double play to secure the shared no-hitter.
Dail went six innings, struck out five and walked three in improving to 5-1 on the season.
At the plate, in the fourth inning, Oregon took advantage of a walk, two hit batters and an error to score four runs on two hits. Allee Bunker led off with a single. Hanna Delgado grounded out to the pitcher to advance Bunker to second. KK Humphreys followed with a single to drive in Bunker for the game's first run.
Rachel Cid was hit by a pitch and Paige Sinicki walked to load the bases. Carlson was hit by a pitch to score Humphreys. Karissa Ornelas hit a sharp grounder that the first baseman couldn't handle and both Sinicki and Cid scored on the error.
In the sixth, Carlson launched the first pitch she saw well over the left-field fence for a 5-0 Oregon lead,
Noteworthy: For the five-game tournament, Carlson went 4-for-8 with two home runs, three RBI and scored four runs. Bunker and Humphreys each had five hits in Cathedral City, while Kedre Luschar had four. Carlson and Hanna Delgado both hit two home runs. Makenna Kliethermes went 1-1 with a 1.50 earned run average and 11 strikeouts in two complete games.

"Sometimes it takes a little adversity for things to not go out way for us to understand that we've got to elevate. What I loved again is that we really challenged this team after the first day and you saw them step on the second day and finish really strong today."
