Stellar Scholar-Athlete

Feb 28, 2022

STANFORD, Calif. - Lexie Hull has been named the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2021-22 season, the conference announced today.

The award is presented in each of the 24 sports sponsored by the Pac-12 and was established to honor collegiate student-athletes that are standouts both academically and in their sports discipline.

Solidifying her legacy as the quintessential Stanford student-athlete, Hull boasts a near perfect 3.90 GPA and is on track to graduate in four years this spring with both her bachelor's and master's degrees in Management Science and Engineering. She was named a first-team Academic All-American last season by CoSIDA, just the second player in program history to do so (Chiney Ogwumike), and is on the ballot again this season. Hull entered the year as a two-time All-Pac-12 honoree and was named to the all-tournament teams at the 2021 NCAA Final Four, 2021 NCAA Alamo Region and 2021 Pac-12 Tournament.

She eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark earlier this season and currently ranks 29th in program history with 1,284 points. Her 176 career 3-pointers are just outside the program's top-10 list and she has started every game in which she was available since her sophomore year. She's scored in double figures 60 times in her career, leading the team in scoring 21 times and boasting eight double-doubles while leading the Cardinal to back-to-back Pac-12 regular season championships, two Pac-12 Tournament titles (2019, 2021) and the 2021 NCAA national championship.
Outside of basketball, Hull is an active member of Pi Beta Phi sorority on campus and has spent time working with Cardinal Community, a student-athlete led community service group.

Hull is the sixth from Stanford to win the award in women's basketball, following in the footsteps of Jayne Appel (2010), Kayla Pedersen (2011), Chiney Ogwumike (2014), Brittany McPhee (2018) and Alanna Smith (2019).

In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility), on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum one year in residence at the institution. Each Pac-12 institution may nominate one individual per sport, and the winners are selected by a committee of Pac-12 staff members at the conclusion of each sport's regular season. The athletics accomplishments of the nominees are a consideration in voting for the award.
