Colorado Hosts Pair Of Ranked Teams

BOULDER – The Colorado women's tennis team hosts a pair of top-25 teams this weekend with No.16 UCLA coming to town Friday at 1 p.m. and No.21 USC Sunday at 10 a.m.
 
Friday's matchup is set to be competed outdoors at the CU South Campus Tennis Complex while Sunday's match will be at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.
 
Colorado (4-3) has won four-straight going into the start of the conference season. Sunday they upset No.71-ranked Iowa 4-1. They have their toughest weekend upcoming thus far, facing the Los Angeles schools where the Buffs are a combined 0-22 against the teams. This will be the first matchup in Boulder for the Buffs against either team since 2018.
 
The Buffaloes are finally getting healthy for the first time this season and had a nearly full lineup Sunday. The team picked up the win after a doubles point with wins from Caroline Pozo and Maria Campos along with Antonia Balzert and Mila Stanojevic. Campos and Balzert also picked up singles wins along with Megan Forster to clinch the win.
 
Stanojevic is riding a 13-match singles win streak. Sunday she was up one set when the match was decided. She has wins in the No.2-No.4 positions and played in the No.5 position Sunday.
 
SCOUTING THE BRUINS
UCLA jumped 40 spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings last week after defeating No.6 Cal and No.12 USC last week. They downed the Bears 6-1 at home before defeating their cross-town rivals 4-1. They have won three of their last four with a loss to No.5 Pepperdine. The Bruins are 4-3 with two 4-3 losses to Loyola Marymount and Washington.
 
Alexandra Vagramov leads the team with a ranking of 102 with a 9-8 record. Kimmi Hance is No.111 while Abigail Forbes is No.115. The Bruins also have a pair of ranked doubles teams at No.28 and No.30, both with a 4-1 record.
 
SCOUTING THE TROJANS
The Trojans fell to UCLA and are now 6-6. They are on a five-match losing streak with losses to No.8 Texas A&M, No.22 Oklahoma State, No.2 Oklahoma, UCLA and No.29 UC Santa-Barbara. Their other loss is to No.1 Texas. Prior to that, USC won five-straight with wins over No.23 Miami and No.22 Baylor, both by the score of 4-3.
 
Eryn Cayetano is No.5 in the nation with a 22-6 singles record. Salma Ewing is No.36 followed by Snow Han at 56th and Danielle Wilson at 103. Ewing and Han are the 19th-ranked duo in the nation.
