UCLA Qualifies Three Swimmers for 2022 NCAA Championships

LOS ANGELES – Three UCLA swimmers earned invites to the 2022 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday as the NCAA announced its selections for this year's meet.

UCLA's invited swimmers include junior Gabby Dang, senior Claire Grover, and freshman Paige MacEachern.

The Bruins have a chance to earn additional invites on the diving side, whose selections are earned with regional Zone Championships. UCLA divers Hannah Butler, Zoe Jespersgaard, and Maya Salvitti are all set to compete at the Zone E Diving Championships in Flagstaff, Ariz. from Mar. 7-9.

All three qualifying Bruin swimmers will be competing in multiple events at this year's NCAAs.

Grover earned the No. 31 seed in the 100 breast (59.64) and the No. 33 seed in the 50 free (22.10), and was also invited to swim in the 100 free with a seed time of 48.52. This is the fourth consecutive season that Grover has qualified for NCAAs.

MacEachern, who will be competing at NCAAs for the first time, will be the No. 33 seed in the 400 IM (4:10.62) and earned invites in the 500 free (4:44.10) and 1650 free (16:22.99).

Dang secured NCAA qualification for the second consecutive season, earning the No. 39 seed in the 100 fly (52.35) alongside an invite in the 50 free (22.71).

The 2021 NCAA Championships will take place from Mar. 16-19 in Atlanta, Ga. ESPN3 will provide digital broadcast coverage for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday.
