Weinberg To Represent U.S. At Intercontinental Cup

Mar 3, 2022

Cal All-American goalie Adrian Weinberg has been named to the United States roster for next week's FINA Intercontinental Cup in Lima, Peru.

Weinberg, who has twice represented the U.S. in the FINA World Championships, helped lead the Bears to the 2021 NCAA championship as a junior. He is a two-time ACWPC All-American, including a Second Team nod last season.

"Being selected to represent the U.S. on the Senior Team level is a great honor and accomplishment," Cal head men's water polo coach Kirk Everist said. "Adrian has lofty goals and has worked very hard to reach this level. We are proud of him and look forward to watching him compete."

Weinberg led the MPSF last year in saves (230) and steals per game (1.50). He also became just the 14th MPSF goalie ever to record a 20-save game in a 7-6 victory over USC.

The FINA Intercontinental Cup is a round robin tournament that begins Monday, with Team USA taking on Argentina. The event serves as a qualifier for the upcoming FINA World League Super Final, with the top four teams securing spots.
