BERKELEY – Coming two weeks off of a season-best score of 401.150, California men's gymnastics feels that it has a lot more to prove as they look to continue their upward momentum on Saturday, March 5, as the team returns to Stanford's Burnham Pavilion yet again to face the top-ranked Cardinal and the Air Force Falcons. The meet is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. PT.

"We're definitely looking forward to this weekend and getting back out on the floor after some time off," said senior Caleb Rickard.

Although the Golden Bears themselves did not compete last weekend as a team, sophomore Noah Newfeld traveled to Frisco, Texas to compete on one of the country's biggest stages, the Winter Cup, and finished 17th in the all-around in a field containing dozens of entries.

"I think everyone's extra motivated after seeing how well Noah did and how well he represented our team on a big stage like that," Rickard said. "It's always exciting to get the opportunity to watch the top guys in the country and see where we're at."

In the Bears' last meet, head coach J.T. Okada credited the team's success to the "atmosphere" and "energy" that each gymnast brought to the floor. Rickard agrees.

"Our biggest goal heading into this week is to maintain the same mindset and energy that we brought during the last home meet. In my mind, it was one of the most fun and memorable meets that I've been a part of during my time at Cal," he said. "The energy the team brought was unmatched and the mindset we had going into the day was to have no regrets and to enjoy the experience. With it being my last year on the team, that's been my personal goal each meet, but I think as a whole we really captured that against Air Force. If we can go into this weekend having the same mindset, same energy, and have just as much fun, I think we'll surprise some people again.

"We have a lot to show," he finished. "I'm excited for the next three weeks."
