Season finale brings the Ducks to Pullman on CBS

OPENING FIVE
> The final game of the regular season brings Oregon to Pullman as the Cougs look for revenge from a loss two weeks ago. The last time the Ducks came to Pullman was in 2019-20 as the #8 team in the country, going down to defeat 72-61 to the Cougs.
> Michael Flowers has his sights set on the legend Klay Thompson's single-season 3PT record (98 in 2011) as the 5th year enters the game at 87 for the season. Last time at Oregon he scored 23 including hitting 4 three-pointers. 
> Mouhamed Gueye was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the 4th time - In the last four games he is averaging 15.3 ppg (52.0%), 5.8 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 bpg. He went for 7&6 against Oregon in Eugene.
> Despite recent struggles, the Cougs defense continues to be among the elite ranking 39th in defensive rating at 95.8 per 100. WSU has allowed opponents to shoot and effective FG% of just 47.7%.
> WSU's currently sits in 6th place while a win over the Ducks will tie the Cougs for at least 5th place and would give WSU a winning Pac-12 season for the first time since 2007-08. The last time the Cougs finished 6th or better was in 2011-12.

GAME INFORMATION - vs OREGON 
The Cougs close out the regular season against Oregon Saturday on CBS. WSU is looking for revenge after a suffering a tough three-point loss to the Ducks in Eugene just a few weeks prior. In the game Michael Flowers went for 23 points and nearly single-handedly brought the Cougs back from down 9 in the last minute, hitting back-to-back threes before the game-tying attempt rattled out in the final seconds. The Ducks suffered a big loss at UW Thursday in Seattle and have lost 4 of 5 since their win over the Cougs.

NEXT UP
The Pac-12 Tournament begins in Las Vegas on March 9. The seeding is still up in the air coming into the final game of the season with the Cougs potential seedings sitting between 6-8 due to tie-breakers going the way of their opponents. Last season the Cougs fell to ASU in the opening round while in the first year under Coach Smith the Cougs became the first 11 seed in the tournament history to take an opening round win, defeating Colorado before Covid-19 shutdown the tournament.

LAST TIME OUT - vs OREGON STATE
WSU 71 - OSU 67 | March 3, 2022 | Pullman, Wash.
TJ Bamba came off the bench to score 16 points and grab eight rebounds, sparking Washington State to a 71-67 victory over Oregon State on Thursday night. The win led the Cougs to a sweep of the Beavers in the regular season for the first time since 2011-12. In addition to Bamba, Flowers had 14 points for the Cougars, while Roberts scored 10. Abogidi pitched in with nine points, eight rebounds and five of WSU's nine blocks.

THE KYLE SMITH EFFECT
In three seasons under head coach Kyle Smith the Cougs have continually grown as a team finishing each season at .500 or better including back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in over a decade. In addition, the Cougs picked up their 10th Pac-12 win against OSU, giving them double-digit conference wins for the first time since 2007-08 while ensuring a .500 or better Pac record for just the 4th time since the turn of the century and first time since 2011-12. Since the legend Coach Raveling patrolled the sidelines the Cougs have posted a .500 or better record in conference play just 8 times prior to this season.
