Arizona Sweeps Second Day of Wildcat Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 9 Arizona beat Boise State (16-3) and Texas State (9-6) on Saturday to improve to 14-4 on the season.  
Game 1 – Arizona 5, Boise State 4
The Wildcats beat Boise State 5-4 in their first game of the day. Izzy Pacho and Carlie Scupin each hit a double to push the Cats past the Broncos.
Allie Skaggs went 3-for-4 and Sophia Carroll and Pacho went 2-for-3 with one RBI each.
Boise State hit a home run in the first inning to take an early lead and hit two more – one in the fourth and the fifth – to take a 4-0 lead over the Cats. Arizona scored five unanswered runs to win the game.
Pacho put Arizona on the board with an RBI double and Sophia Carroll hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. The Cats strung together three singles to add two more runs and Scupin hit her seventh double of the season to score the winning run in the sixth.
Madi Elish pitched in relief for Hanah Bowen and picked up the win to improve to 3-1. Elish entered in the fifth inning and allowed only one run to score. Devyn Netz earned her first save of the season when she entered in the seventh and did not allow a run to score.
Game 2 – Arizona 11, Texas State 10
Arizona (14-4) battled back from a 5-2 deficit and took down Texas State 11-10. The Cats scored 11 runs on 15 hits, with 11 RBI.
Four Wildcats had multiple hits and Skaggs went 3-for-4 again and Pacho went 3-for-4 with three RBI each. Pacho and Paige Dimler each hit doubles and Jasmine Perezchica hit her first career triple to lead off the first inning.
Arizona scored one run in the first inning on an RBI single from Skaggs. Texas State then scored three runs in the second to take the lead. The Cats regained the lead in the fourth inning on a trio of RBI singles to score five runs, putting Arizona up 7-5. Texas State tied the game in the fifth inning and scored three runs in the sixth to take the lead.
A pair of RBI doubles from Pacho and Dimler in the bottom of the sixth helped Arizona take the lead at 10-9. The Bobcats answered with an RBI single in the top of the seventh, but Scupin hit a walk-off single to score the winning run.
Elish picked up her fourth win of the season – second win of the day – in relief for Jessie Fontes to improve to 4-1.
