LAS VEGAS -- On day two of the Boyd Gaming Classic, Washington took revenge on Houston, 10-4, and then defeated host UNLV, 6-1, in the night game.
Looking to avenge yesterday's loss, the Huskies struck quickly with a first-inning Baylee Klingler two-run home run to left field. Houston answered in the next inning, tying the score at two apiece. In the third inning, Washington pulled away, thanks to Kelley Lynch's three-run home run. Pat Moore pitched four innings of work for the win. Jenn Cummings and Megan Vandegrift both doubled on the day, while Klingler, Lynch and Madi Huskey provided the home runs. The three stolen bases by Sami Reynolds, Vandegrift and Moore are the most for Washington in a single game this season.
Washington started fast against UNLV. After getting on the board in the first inning, Olivia Johnson followed the scoring up with a solo shot to left field. Continuing the freshmen home run trend, Angie Yellen pinch-hit in the top of the sixth and recorded her first career home run on her first career hit. She had only seen two at-bats prior to the UNLV game. Gabbie Plain earned the win, striking out a season-high 13 batters.

HOUSTON NOTES
Baylee Klingler has hit three home runs (so far) on the weekend. She knocked two, including a grand slam, Friday against New Mexico State, and recorded her ninth of the year against Houston Saturday.
Kelley Lynch's three-run home run was her second of the season, 15th of her career.
Madi Huskey's two-run home run was her fifth of the season, 15th of her career.
Pat Moore (3-0) earned the win, pitching four innings with three strikeouts and one walk. Brooke Nelson entered in the fifth, and Gabbie Plain finished the game in the seventh.
Three stolen bases are the most in a single game this season for Washington.

Olivia Johnson's second-inning home run was her first since the third game of the season. In her freshman campaign, she is batting .282 and slugging .641.
Freshman Angie Yellen, who prior to this game had only two other at-bats, pinch-hit in the top of the sixth. She recorded her first career home run on her first career hit.
Gabbie Plain earned the win (8-2), pitching a complete game and striking out a season-high 13 Rebels. This was her 32nd career game with 10+ strikeouts. Plain's career-high 16 strikeouts came on 3/19/21 against Arizona. In the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, Plain worked out of bases-loaded situations to preserve the win. UNLV left 11 on base.
