SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 16 UCLA women's tennis team defeated No. 27 Utah by a 4-0 score Sunday at George S. Eccles Tennis Center, completing a road sweep to start Pac-12 play.

Sasha Vagramov clinched the Bruins' second shutout in as many matches. Kimmi Hance and Elise Wagle were also victorious in singles play for UCLA (6-3, 2-0 Pac-12). The Utes (12-2, 1-1) forced a tiebreaker in the deciding doubles match, but were unable to break through for a point.

Hance and Vanessa Ong set the tone early for the Bruins. Competing as doubles partners for the first time, the pair registered a 6-1 defeat of Lindsay Hung and Madeline Lamoreaux on the third court. Hance is now 5-0 in dual-match doubles action, playing with two different partners.

Emily Dush and Anastasia Goncharova answered for Utah, recording a 6-1 win of their own versus No. 30 Ava Catanzarite and Abbey Forbes on Court 2. That left the point to be decided on Court 1, where Linda Huang and Madison Tattini broke the serve of Wagle and Elysia Bolton for a 6-5 lead. Bolton and Wagle broke back, however, resulting in a first-to-seven tiebreaker. Bolton and Wagle narrowly took that by a 7-5 margin for the point.

Just as she helped UCLA get its first doubles victory of the day, Hance logged the initial singles result in winning fashion. The 111th-ranked Hance bested Goncharova on Court 4, 6-4, 6-4, for her fifth singles win of the dual-match season in six decisions.

Wagle wrapped up a 4-0 week across her singles and doubles competitions with a 7-6(5), 6-1 triumph over Tattini. While Wagle and Tattini were last to finish their initial set on the fifth court, Wagle's second-set effort led to the second finished singles result and a 3-0 lead for the Bruins.

Finally, it was Vagramov who sealed the team victory. Vagramov's 6-3, 6-4 win against Hung represents her second decider in as many matches and 10th of her career.

UCLA returns home Friday, March 11, when it takes on No. 44 Arizona in a Pac-12 contest. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. PT. The Bruins wrap up the short homestand the next day, when they meet No. 17 Arizona State at 12 p.m.
