Two More Wins for the Wildcats

Tucson, Ariz. - No. 44 Arizona bounced back after yesterday's loss to claim two more wins in their spring season. The Wildcats swept the Cougars 4-0 in the morning match and won 4-3  against the Rams in the afternoon. 

The Wildcats took both doubles points in Sunday's doubleheader against Washington State and Colorado State. 

Midori Castillo and Belen Nevenhoven clinched the doubles point 6-4 on court three against Washington State. Kayla Wilkins and Kirsten Prelle finished 1-6 on court two against Yang Lee and Fifa Kumhom. And finishing first for the Cats was Parker Fry and Khim Iglupas who won their match 6-4 against Maxine Murphy and Michaela Bayerlova.

Wilkins and Iglupas swept the No. 52 doubles team Radka Buzkova and Matea Mihaljevic 6-0. Finalizing the second doubles point of the day for Arizona was Fry and Prelle with a 6-4 win against Lucia Natal and Tracy Guo. 

Each Cat who won a singles point against WSU did so in two straight sets. Fry took the first singles point for Arizona defeating Elyse Tse 6-1, 7-5. Next was Nevenhoven with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Hania Abouelsaad. Securing the first conference win for the Wildcats was Iglupas who finished 6-4, 7-5 against Kumhom. 

Ziouti grabbed the first singles point against the Rams with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Mihaljevic. Fry was next, defeating Richterova 6-4 in two straight sets. Nevenhoven clinched the match after she won 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 against Sarah Weekley. 

The Cats travel to California on Wednesday, March 9 for a match against Loyola Marymount and then two more conference matches against UCLA and USC on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12.
