Mar 7, 2022

Five Trojans took their talents to Indianapolis last week to compete in the 2022 NFL Combine. In case you missed any of the action, here is a recap of last week's events:

Drake London:

London refrained from participating in on-field drills in Indianapolis, as he is still recovering from the season-ending ankle injury he suffered in 2021. Instead, the wide receiver will hold his own workout for scouts on April 5 on USC's campus.

Testing Results:

Arms: 33''

Hands: 9 ⅜''

London's top quotes from the Combine:

On his relationship with Amon-Ra St. Brown:

"Definitely a big brother right there. I was blessed enough to get in the room with him when I was younger and be there with him for two years. He's been in my ear helping me through this process."

On whether he was surprised on Amon-Ra's success in his rookie season:

"No, that's the sun god right there. Somebody who's very, very hard working. His demeanor and his mentality - that's someone I've learned from. So it's no surprise to me."

On whether playing at USC gave him confidence to be prepared for the NFL:

"It's amazing; the confidence boost. At the end of the day, if you look down the line of all the 'SC receivers, you can see they've produced very well [in the NFL]. And that's why I picked that school at the end of the day, to get to where I'm at right now."

Is the NBA dream still alive?

"It's still out there! But I'm definitely pursuing this right now. I'm definitely focused on this."

Keaontay Ingram:

Testing Results:

40-yard dash: 4.53

Vertical jump: 34.5

Broad jump: 122

Arms: 31 ½''

Hands: 9''

Ingram's vertical jump was tied for seventh-best among running backs, while his broad jump was tied for ninth-best. The former Trojans' 40-yard dash was tied for 16th.

Ingram's top quotes from the Combine:

On his decision to leave USC for the NFL:

"It was tough. Lincoln [Riley], his resume speaks for itself, of course. I was thinking about it a little bit, but I had to make a grown-man decision. I had to make a decision for me that was best at the time."

On USC preparing him for the NFL:

"It prepared me well. We had media every day. We had proper training on how to go about being professional and make the transition [to the NFL]. Now I'm able to sit in front of you today and still have that role and that mindset, and those were things I learned from USC."

Drake Jackson:

Testing Results:

Vertical jump: 36.5

Broad jump: 127

Arms: 34''

Hands: 10 ⅛''

Jackson's broad jump ranked third among defensive linemen at this year's combine.

Jackson's top quotes from the Combine:

On taking pride in being a complete player:

"I take the most pride in that because me and my dad, we harped on that ever since I was a little kid on being the most versatile and being able to do it all in case some team needed something different. I feel like I got it all."

On what he wants NFL teams to know about him

"I want them to know I can do anything. I'm a freak. I love to do it all. It doesn't matter what it is. if I can't do it, I'll work to do it."

On his favorite memory at USC

"Definitely me getting the sack against Utah - the safety. And then right after the game, they put me on the ladder with the sword in front of the fans my freshman year. As a freshman, that's one of the biggest things you can ever see. You never know if you are going to do that in your four years there, and as a freshman being able to do that, it was one of the most crazy experiences of my life."

Isaac Taylor-Stuart:

Testing Results:

40-yard dash: 4.42

Broad jump: 123

Arms: 31 ½''

Hands: 9''

Taylor-Stuart ran the best 40-yard dash time among Pac-12 cornerbacks and ranked 13th among the entire position group.

Taylor-Stuart's top quotes from the Combine:

On strengths he is hoped to showcase

"Definitely my technique, my fundamentals, getting out of my breaks, speed and showing I can high-point catch the football."

On what strong suits he brings to an NFL team:

"The strong suits that I bring are aggressiveness, size, the ability to make a tackle and the size to break up a pass. I have arm length, height and speed, so I don't really get burnt, and then the football IQ."

On going against USC receivers at practice

"Through my four years going through great receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Michael Pittman, Tyler Vaughns and Drake London, it definitely prepared me because there's battles each and every day. That got me ready for this moment."

Chris Steele:

Testing Results:

40-yard dash: 4.48

Vertical jump: 37.5

Broad jump: 126

Arms: 31 ⅛''

Hands: 8 ¾''

Steele recorded the fourth-best vertical jump and fifth-best broad jump among cornerbacks. He also finished just behind Taylor-Stuart in the 40-dash with a 4.48 time -- tied for 16th among corners at the combine.

Steele's top quotes from the Combine:

On what makes him stand out:

"I've played for one of the better defensive back coaches in college football [in Donte Williams]. He taught me a lot and gave me a lot of tools. I look at myself as a Swiss Army knife; I'm able to do a little bit of everything. I can play inside, I can play outside, and I'm looking forward to showcasing that."

On why Drake London is challenging to cover:

"His size. He's a basketball player and you can tell; he plays like it. The way he moves his body is ridiculous. He's a big-bodied receiver, and he knows how to make those spectacular catches. He definitely made me a better player."

USC's Pro Day will take place on March 23rd.
