FAIRFAX – The Cal women's golf team shot 4-under par in the second round and stands in fifth place at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational heading into Tuesday's final round.
Sophomore Mika Jin carded a 3-under par 69 in the second round and is at 2-under overall for the tournament, tied for eighth place in the 74-player field. Senior Elena Arias shot even-par in each of the first two rounds and is in a tie for 14th, while sophomore Cristina Ochoa shot 2-under in the second round and is in a tie for 22nd at 2-over par.
The Bears' overall second-round total of 284 was tied for the second-best score in the 13-team field. Cal is five strokes behind No. 1 Stanford for second place. No. 9 San Jose State leads the tournament at 11-under par.
Jin had four birdies in each of the first two rounds Monday but only had a singular bogey in the second round. She has now shot par or better in each of her past five rounds – Jin finished in a tie for seventh place at last week's Gunrock Invitational at 5-under par.
