BERKELEY -- California softball heads to the islands for five games in four days in Honolulu at the Rainbow Wahine Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i this week. 

The Bears open with a 5:30 pm PT first pitch against Baylor on Wednesday, March 9 at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium and play Hawai'i at 8 pm PT on Thursday, March 10. Cal has a rematch with Baylor at 2:30 pm PT on Friday, March 11 before facing defending national champion and No. 1-ranked, Oklahoma, at 5:30 pm PT Friday. California closes the weekend with a 4 pm PT start vs the Rainbow Wahine on Saturday, March 12 that will be streamed on ESPN+.

  • California is off to its best start since the 2018 season at 15-6.
  • The Bears have hit at least one home run in 15 of 21 games so far this year and are 12-3 in games with one or more long ball.

  • Makena Smith leads the Pac-12 Conference with a .548 batting average through the first four weeks of the season.

  • Cal's pitching staff holds a combined earned run average of just 1.77, the fourth-best in the conference.
  • Tatum Anzaldo is a table setter in the leadoff spot, batting .397 with 16 runs scored, second on the squad.
