Lineback, Musselman Sweep MPSF Weekly Honors
LOS ANGELES -- The MPSF announced on Tuesday that a pair of Bruins have swept the weekly awards. Redshirt senior Maddie Musselman (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS) was named the MPSF/KAP7 Player of the Week and freshman Emma Lineback (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS) was named the MPSF/KAP7 Newcomer of the Week.
Musselman led the Bruins in scoring with seven goals and two assists for nine points, helping the team get off to a 3-0 start in the MPSF and 20-1 overall with a 9-8 win at No. 4 California and a 17-8 win at No. 17 Pacific (Mar. 5-6). Musselman scored four goals on five shots and added two assists and two steals, while winning all four sprints, in the MPSF win at Cal. Then in three quarters at Pacific, she scored a hat trick and won all three of her sprints. Musselman tied the school's all-time scoring leader (Kelly Rulon) with 237 career goals after her seven-goal week. She leads the NCAA with 54 goals this year, and is one away from entering the MPSF's all-time top-15.
This is the 13th career MPSF weekly award for Musselman, including a conference-high three this year.
Others Nominated: Julia Roemer (Stanford).
Lineback helped the Bruins get out to a 3-0 start in the MPSF and 20-1 overall with a 9-8 win at No. 4 California (Mar. 5) and a 17-8 win at No. 17 Pacific (Mar. 6). She scored a hat trick, which tied her season-high for the seventh time, in the win over the Tigers.
This is the first career MPSF award for Lineback.
