USC’s Nike Agunbiade, George Korovin Double Qualify for NCAA Diving Championships

For the second day in a row, USC juniors Nike Agunbiade and George Korovin punched their tickets to the NCAA Diving Championships after impressive performances at the Zone E Diving meet on Tuesday (March 8).

Agunbiade, who qualified on women's 1-meter yesterday, returned today to finish fourth on 3-meter with 688.30 and punch her ticket to the NCAA Championships in the event. Tomorrow, Agunbiade will look to triple-qualify for NCAA's while competing on platform.

An additional three Trojans advanced to the women's 3-meter finals, with Savannah Stocker (612.55) finishing ninth, Farrah Volpintesta (610.30) finishing 10th and Maddie Huitt (592.50) shortyle behind in 12th.

On tower, Korovin finished second with 700.70, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in a second event. Yesterday, Korovin qualified on men's 3-meter.

The three-day competition continues tomorrow, March 9, with opportunities for Trojans to earn invites to the dance on women's platform and men's 1-meter. 

Just last week, eight Trojans were invited to compete at the upcoming women's NCAA Championships, March 16-19 in Atlanta, Georgia. USC's eight invited athletes include Calypso Sheridan (100y back, 200y breast, 200y IM), Kaitlyn Dobler (50y free, 100y breast, 200y breast), Isabelle Odgers (100y breast, 200y breast, 200y IM), Laticia Transom (50y free, 100y free, 200y free), Anicka Delgado (50y free, 100y fly), Caroline Pennington (500y free, 1650y free), Nicole Pavlopoulou (200y breast) and Hanna Henderson (100y free). In addition, the Trojans' will take with them sophomore Adair Sand and freshmen Genevieve Sasseville and Marlene Kahler to compete on relays. 

The men's NCAA Championship invitations will be announced later this week. Trojan Shangfei Wang has already qualified on 3-meter.
