Walker, Battey, Simpson Earn Pac-12 Postseason Honors
BOULDER – Three University of Colorado Buffaloes picked up Pac-12 Conference men's basketball postseason honors, voted on by coaches, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Sophomore forward Jabari Walker was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team. Senior forward Evan Battey is an All-Pac-12 Second Team pick while earning honorable mention to the All-Defensive Team. K.J. Simpson was named to the Pac-12's All-Freshman Team.
Walker is the seventh different Buffalo to be named to the All-Pac-12 First Team and the 11th honor overall. He was a member of the Pac-12's All-Freshman Team last season.
Walker leads Colorado at 14.7 points and 9.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the field. His 16 double-doubles leads the Pac-12 and ranks ninth in the nation. Walker also leads the Pac-12 in overall rebounds and defensive boards (7.4 drpg), while ranking fifth in scoring, 11th in free throw percentage (.788) and offensive rebounds (2.0 orpg) and 14th in field goal percentage.
Battey picks up all-conference honors for the first time after earning honorable mention in 2020-21. Battey is averaging 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while leading the Buffaloes is field goal shooting at 51 percent. He leads the Pac-12 in 3-point shooting at 52.1 percent, ranks eighth in overall field goal percentage and 17th in scoring.
The Buffaloes have had at least one player on either the All-Pac-12 First or Second Team, all 11 seasons of their conference membership.
Simpson is Colorado's fifth All-Freshman Team honoree. He is averaging 7.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game while leading the Buffaloes in assists at 2.5 an outing. A two-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week (Nov. 29 and Feb. 21), Simpson ranks 13th in the Pac-12 in free throw shooting at 76.9 percent.
Colorado, 20-10 overall, finished fourth in the Pac-12 at 12-8 and is the No. 4 seed at the upcoming Pac-12 Tournament, Mar. 9-12, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
