Colorado Rallies Back Against Air Force

Mar 9, 2022

BOULDER – The Colorado women's tennis team rallied back to defeat Air Force 4-2 here Wednesday afternoon after falling in the doubles point.
The Buffaloes (5-5, 0-2 Pac-12) won four matches in straight sets against Air Force (10-3) after falling in the doubles point for the third-straight match.
A pair of freshmen were crucial to today's victory, combining for three set sweeps. Betina Tokac absolutely dominated in the No.5 singles match today, sweeping Hailey Stelse with a pair of 6-0 sets. It is her third win in dual matches this season. Mila Stanojevic picked up the win in the No.3 singles match over Alexis Odom by a score of 6-3, 6-0.
Also for Colorado was Antonia Balzert picking up the win in the No.2 singles match over Sydney Fitch. She controlled the first set 6-1, then finished off the match with a 6-4 second set victory.
The clinching match came from Megan Forster. Despite being down 5-3 in the first set, Forster rallied back and won the next three games before her opponent forced a tiebreak. Forster won the tiebreak 7-4 and didn't look back, crushing the second set 6-2 for the win.
Colorado is off tomorrow before returning to action Friday at Washington State. The team plays against Sunday at Washington before returning Tuesday to face Colorado State.
Head Coach Anthony Pham
On The Match
We played hard. Air Force has had a good year and coming off a couple of losses I think it was important for us to have a good match. Unfortunately, we didn't play great in double today, but that had a lot to do with Air Force. We played great doubles but did a better job in singles beating enough to win the match.
On Betina
We had a tough weekend, she had a tough weekend. So it's really good to see her play well. Obviously Megan bounced back to clinch the match. It's huge for her in her confidence and our confidence as well as we look forward to this weekend going to Washington State and Washington.
On Megan
With Megan, we know we're going to get everything from her day in and day out. I told her before the match I have a ton of confidence in her no matter what the score is. She competes with such fire. I'm really happy for her. It's a good step in the right direction.
