PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – The University of Arizona Women's Golf Team will return to the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge as part of the field for a ninth time in program history when it tees off at the Palos Verdes Golf Club on Sunday. Arizona returns to the event, which began in 2012-13, after a year hiatus due to a COVID-shortened schedule last season. Freshman Carolina Melgrati posted her first ever top-10 finish in the Wildcats' last event, carding a tournament score of 5-over par.
"This tournament has been a good test for our teams in years past," said head coach Laura Ianello. "We are coming off our best finish as a team this spring at the Florida State Match-Up, and we have had a strong two weeks of practice since then. I am excited to see how we play as we begin the home stretch of our season."
In eight previous appearances in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Arizona has only finished among the top four times twice, most recently in 2018. The program's best individual finish at the event came in 2019 when Yu-Sang Hou finished runner up.
The Wildcats begin their homestretch of their regular season in Southern California with the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge being the first of three events remaining before the Pac-12 Championships in April.
