Matchup History
The Huskies are 23-7 versus Utah since 2002 with an 11-3 road record.

Scouting The Huskies
Head coach Lindsay Meggs and his staff have an excited and re-loaded roster for the 2022 season. This year's roster features 23 newcomers made up of 10 JUCO transfers, 10 true freshmen and three four-year college transfers.

Among the returning UW pitchers to watch are Adam Bloebaum, Jack Enger and Stefan Raeth who all have experience as starters. Colton McIntosh, Bryce Armstrong, Jared Engman and Gianluca Shinn are a quarter of JUCO transfers to pay attention to on the mound.

On offense, Will Simpson returns after leading the Huskies in all major categories last season, batting .310 with seven home runs and 35 RBI. Michael Brown ranked second on the team with four home runs in 2021 and has the next-most returning experience with 105 atbats a season ago. Other contributors back from last year's squad include versatile infielders Michael Snyder, Christian Dicochea and Dalton Chandler as well as experienced outfielders Cole Miller and Preston Viltz. Johnny Tincher brings the most returning experience at the catching position, while Karl Koerper has big-time power and can DH and play 1B.

Notable newcomers on offense include JUCO transfer McKay Barney in the outfield, JUCO transfer Coby Morales in the infield, Cal State Fullerton transfer Josh Urps and true freshman Cam Clayton in the middle infield.

Scouting the Utes
Coming off a 17-33 season, Utah looks to right the ship with new head coach Gary Henderson - an associate head coach with the Utes for the past two seasons. He has his work cut out for him with the Utes adding one of the largest groups of newcomers in program history.

Saturday's starters include Matthew Sox who went 5-2 with a save in 20 relief appearances last year, while Randon Hoster was 3-0 working out of the pen as well. Finally, all eyes will be on true freshman Cam Day on Sunday - 2021's No. 1-ranked high school player in Utah.

On defense, keep an eye on Redshirt Junior Catcher Jayden Kiernan. Six doubles and 17 RBIs earned him 2021 Pac-12 All-Conference Honorable Mention. He's already well on his way batting .362 with 5 doubles and 10 RBIs in this young 2022 season. TJ Clarkson and Alex Baeza are also off to strong starts, each batting .333. Clarkson leads the team with three HRs.
