Mar 11, 2022

SEATTLE – The 29th ranked Utah women's tennis team fell short to No. 17 the Washington Huskies on Friday afternoon from the Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium. The Utes were defeated 4-0.

"Tough road match against a good team tonight," said head coach Ric Mortera. "We put ourselves in another winning position during the doubles point but did not find a way to finish, and we will continue to evaluate where we need to improve and make the necessary adjustments in both our doubles and singles. Another great opportunity is on its way Sunday, and we are looking forward to it."
The Utes and Huskies were locked in a battle in doubles action. The first doubles match of the day went to the Utes when Lindsay Hung and Madeline Lamoreaux won 6-2 in No. 3 doubles. After losing in No. 1 doubles, the match came down to No. 2 doubles.
Linda Huang and Madison Tattini were locked in a battle against Sarah-Maude Fortin and Hikaru Sato. The match went back and forth, and they found themselves tied at 6-6 and heading to a tiebreaker. The Huskies edged the Ute's duo, 7-5 in the tiebreaker, taking the set and doubles point.
The Utes went to singles and battled against the Huskies in singles. In No. 6 Singles, Madeline Lamoreaux took the first set over Yolanda Lin, 6-4. However, she would drop the second set and go to a third set. Lamoreaux led 4-2 in the third set, but it would go unfinished.
The Huskies clinched the match when they won No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1, taking a 2-0 lead. The lead grew to 3-0 after winning No. 2 singles. Washington clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-3 win in No. 5 singles.
