Bears Drop Rainbow Wahine Classic Finale

Mar 12, 2022

HONOLULU – California jumped in front early, but couldn't finish on the way to falling 6-1 to Hawai'i in the Rainbow Wahine Classic finale on Saturday.

Acacia Anders homered for the Bears (18-8) and Sona Halajian had a 2-for-3 day at the plate. D'Asha Saiki and Amani Bradley each added base hits for California.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Cal jumped on the Rainbow Wahine early with a one-out solo shot to the opposite field from Anders in the opening frame, her third of the season and second of the weekend. Hawai'i answered in the bottom half with a leadoff homer to tie the game at 1-1 after the first.

It was 2-1 in favor of the home team after three, with the Rainbow Wahine scoring on a hit and a steal of home after a fielder's choice. Hawai'i added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a 2-run home run and RBI single to take a 5-1 advantage through five complete.

UP NEXT
Cal opens conference play with a three-game home series against No. 7 Washington at Levine-Fricke Field. The first game is set for 3 pm on Friday, March 18.
