UCLA Closes Preseason With A Pair of Mercy-Rule Wins

LOS ANGELES – The No. 5 UCLA softball team closed out its preseason on a 15-game winning streak after defeating both Fresno State, 12-0, and CSU Bakersfield, 17-1, in five innings at Easton Stadium on Saturday night.
Briana Perez went a combined 5-for-5 with eight RBI, two home runs and a triple across the two contests. Perez has now homered in each of UCLA's (22-3) last three games.
Delanie Wisz, Savannah Pola and Maya Brady also launched longballs today.
Six separate Bruins recorded multi-RBI nights in UCLA's two games.
Lauren Shaw started game one in the circle versus Fresno State, going four innings with seven strikeouts to pick up her third win of the season. Megan Faraimo shut the door in the fifth inning and struck out all three batters she faced. Faraimo has now struck out 18 straight batters.
Holly Azevedo toed the rubber to begin game against CSU Bakersfield. Azevedo logged her 10th win of the season behind a seven-strikeout effort.
The Bruins are back in action next week to host its first Pac-12 series of the season versus Arizona, beginning Saturday, March 19 at 5 p.m. PT. The three-game series ends Monday, March 21. The contests will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
