Mar 14, 2022

PULLMAN, Wash. – Adding yet another transfer to the Cougs' ranks for the 2022 season, Washington State soccer head coach Todd Shulenberger has officially announced the addition of Jaiden McClellan (Portland, Ore.) out of San Jose State. McClellan spent two years at SJSU but will have three seasons to play in the Crimson and Gray when she arrives for the new year in 2022.

McClellan is the fourth transfer signed by the Cougs from the portal in the offseason joining other DI transfers Brianna McReynolds (Oregon State), Lindsey Turner (UC Riverside), and Telly Vunipola (Syracuse) as new Cougs for the 2022 season.

"We are really excited to welcome Jaiden to the Coug soccer family," said Shulenberger. "Jaiden has a huge upside and will bring versatility along with her play making and the ability to keep possession when she is on the ball. Welcome Jaiden!"

In her time at SJSU, McClellan was a two-year starter in the midfield for the Spartans appearing in 27 matches with 24 starts. In the Covid-19 shortened 2021 spring season, McClellan started nine of 10 matches scoring once for the Spartans as a freshman. She would add a second tally in the fall of 2021 as a sophomore notching the Spartans' lone strike against Fresno State in the final match of the season. McClellan would also tally her first collegiate assist during her sophomore campaign, setting up the match-winner against New Mexico State.

Prior to committing to SJSU, McClellan was one of the top high school players in the state of Oregon while attending Jesuit High School. She was named a 2019 all-american for her play as the team captain for the No. 1 ranked team in america as a senior. She helped lead her team to three state championships in four seasons while earning all-state and all-league honors twice for her play. She has spent time in the U.S. National Team system playing with the U14 team as well as attending the U.S. Youth Soccer National Training Camp.
