Elvis Named To Buster Posey Award Watch List

Cole Elvis is one of 76 catchers nationally in contention for the 2022 Buster Posey Award.

BERKELEY – California senior Cole Elvis was named last week to the watch list for the 2022 Buster Posey Award, earned annually by the top catcher in college baseball. Elvis is one of 76 catchers to be named to the initial watch list, which was released Thursday, March 10.

A senior from Vacaville, California, Elvis is slashing .306/.362/.435 to go along with 13 RBI and six extra-base hits in 16 starts this season. He's with an error defensively so far in 2022 and has throw out four baserunners. Elvis has slugged 15 home runs in his career while making 85 starts, primarily at catcher.
 
The list will be updated to include other candidates until May 4 before being narrowed down to the semifinalists on May 19. Ballots will be sent to the national voting committee at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists will be announced June 7, 2022. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita and the winner will be announced on June 29, 2022.
