USC Lacrosse’s Kelsey Huff Earns Pac-12 Player of the Week Honors

Mar 14, 2022

SAN FRANCISCO – USC lacrosse graduate midfielder Kelsey Huff (Eastport, N.Y.) was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career, the league announced on Monday, March 14. Arizona State's Katie Vahle was chosen for the defensive award.
In three games, Huff collected 16 goals. She was 4-for-6 from free position and tallied four caused turnovers and two ground balls for the Women of Troy. Huff matched her previous career mark by scoring five goals against 10th-ranked Princeton on Tuesday. In USC's Pac-12 opener against No. 23-ranked Colorado, Huff was unconscionable as she scored seven goals to become only the third USC player to score as many in a game. She continued with a four-goal and one-assist outing against Oregon and moved into second place in program history for career hat tricks with her 28th.
On the season, Huff has scored 24 goals (2 assists, 26 points) and picked up eight ground balls with nine caused turnovers. She has gone 6-for-11 from free position and shoots at a .533 percentage with a .733 shot-on-goal percentage. Huff leads the Pac-12 in goals and goals per game (4.00 gpg, eighth nationally) and is the league leader for shots-on-goal (5.50 sogpg).
The Pac-12 is in its fifth season of women's lacrosse. Women of Troy have earned conference weekly honors 22 times (15 defensive and seven offensive). Colorado leads with 23 all-time awards. Arizona State follows with 18 and Stanford has had 17. Oregon (3) and California (1) round out the group. Huff becomes the seventh Trojan to garner multiple Pac-12 weekly awards in her career and among just 24 players in league history to have won more than once.
The 15th-ranked Trojans (5-1, 2-0 Pac-12) jumped two spots in the ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll this week and will carry that ranking into two Pac-12 games in the Bay Area. USC faces California (0-7, 0-1) on Friday, March 18, in Berkeley, Calif., and then heads south to meet defending league champion Stanford (3-4, 1-0) on Sunday, March 20, in Stanford, Calif.
