No. 25 USC Baseball Falls to UConn, 7-1

Mar 15, 2022

LOS ANGELES – In a battle of two 11-win teams, the No. 25 USC baseball team couldn't keep pace with the UConn Huskies on Tuesday night, falling 7-1 in a non-conference matchup at Dedeaux Field.

The Trojans fall to 11-4 with the loss, while the Huskies improve to 12-3.

UConn scored four runs on four hits in the top of the third and then added a two-run homer to make it 6-0 in the sixth. A solo-shot in the eighth capped the scoring for the visitors.

USC got on the board with a run in the ninth and put a couple runners on later in the inning, but couldn't mount a comeback. The Trojans used six pitchers in the game, with Josh Blum, Fisher Johnson and Evan Clark all making their collegiate debuts.

Ian Cooke tossed 7.2 scoreless innings for UConn.
