Juzang Earns Third-Team All-America Honors From NABC
PORTLAND, Ore. – UCLA junior Johnny Juzang has secured third-team All-America honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), as announced on Wednesday.
Juzang was a first-team All-District 19 selection by the NABC earlier this week, prior to being named a third-team All-America honoree. He has averaged a team-leading 16.0 points in 27 games this season, leading UCLA to a 25-7 overall record and a 15-5 mark in Pac-12 action.
Juzang has scored at least 10 points in 23 of 27 games for the Bruins. He tallied a season-high 28 points in the Bruins' 63-58 win at Utah on Thursday, Jan. 20.
An all-district selection by the NABC on Tuesday, Juzang has also been named as one of 10 student-athletes to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District IX Team. The USBWA's all-district selections were announced on Wednesday.
Last week, Juzang joined teammates Tyger Campbell and Jaime Jaquez Jr. as first-team All-Pac-12 selections. He was honored as a second-team all-league selection one year ago.
Juzang and the No. 4-seed Bruins will open NCAA Tournament play this Thursday evening against No. 13-seed Akron (24-9) in Portland, Ore. Game time at the Moda Center is set for 6:50 p.m. (PT). UCLA's game will be nationally televised on TBS. Fans in the Los Angeles area can listen to the Bruins' radio broadcast on AM 570 (KLAC).
As the No. 4-seed in the tournament's East Region, UCLA has been ranked No. 11 in the latest top-25 Associated Press (AP) poll.
