TUCSON, Ariz. – For the second year in a row, Sam Thomas has been named a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American. The graduate student sports a 4.0 GPA while studying Educational Leadership.
Thomas, who is now the program's first two-time first team Academic All-American, was also named first team All-District back in 2019. The Las Vegas native is no stranger to academic awards as she was the 2021 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, won the Elite 90 Award at the 2021 Final Four, and has been on the Pac-12 All-Academic team each year since her sophomore season.
Thomas has had a spectacular career in her five years in Tucson as she is the career leader in games started and played. She is also 10th all-time in scoring, third all-time in made threes, fourth in three-point pct., second all-time in blocks and fourth all-time in steals.
This season, Thomas is shooting a career-high 42.5% from three, which is third-best in the Pac-12 and would be the third-best single-season percentage in school history.
Thomas and the Wildcats are set to face off UNLV in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday at 7 p.m. in McKale Center.
