UCLA Heads to Atlanta for 2022 NCAA Championships
The UCLA swim and dive heads to Atlanta, Ga. This week for the 2022 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Georgia Tech at the McAuley Aquatics Center.
The four-day meet runs from Wednesday, Mar. 16 through Saturday, Mar. 19, though UCLA does not begin competition until Thursday.
The Bruins will send a group of four student-athletes to NCAAs this year, including three swimmers and one diver.
ESPN3 will provide digital broadcast coverage for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday.
Live stats will be available through the MeetMobile app, or online at NCAA.com. Fans can also follow along on Twitter at @UCLASwimAndDive for live UCLA-centric updates.
All four NCAA-bound Bruins will compete in multiple events this week.
Headlining the group is senior Claire Grover, who qualified for NCAAs for the fourth consecutive season. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native earned top-35 seeds and 100 breast and 50 free as well as an invite into the 100 free.
Freshman Paige MacEachern will be competing at NCAAs for the first time after earning the No. 33 seed in the 400 IM (4:10.62) alongside 500 free and 1650 free invites.
Junior Gabby Dang secured NCAA qualification for the second consecutive season. She'll swim as a top-40 seed in the 100 fly (52.35) and will also join Grover in the 50 free.
The last Bruin to qualify for NCAAs was junior diver Hannah Butler, who double-qualified in both springboard events at last week's NCAA Zone E Diving Championships. She punched her ticket in dramatic fashion, clinching an auto-bid on the very last dive of her 3-meter list (her top-five finish in 3M retroactively qualified her in 1M, where she placed 11th at Zones). Butler has now qualified for NCAAs in all three of her seasons in Westwood.
UCLA is coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2022 Pac-12 Championships, the program's third-consecutive top-four finish at the league meet. UCLA went 3-5 in dual meets this past season.
