Beavers Set to Host OSU Pacific Northwest Invite

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State track and field team is set to host the OSU Pacific Northwest Invite this Saturday at Whyte Track and Field Center in Corvallis, Ore. Field events will begin at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw. Events on the track are slated for a 1 p.m. start with the men's 3000-meter steeplechase. The Beavers' first field event of the day will be the women's hammer throw at 10 a.m. and their first event on the track will be the women's 4x100-meter relay slated for 1:35 p.m.
 
The field of competition will include: Oregon State, Oregon, Seattle U, George Fox, Linfield, College of Idaho, Umpqua Community College, Cal Poly Humboldt State, and Western Oregon. 
 
Last Time Out
The Beavers opened outdoor competition on March 5 at the Willamette Opener in Salem, Ore. Oregon State captured first with 92 points in the team standings. Junior Anneke Moersdorf won the shot put with a toss of 11.45m (37' 6.79") and freshman Chelsie Emmerson took first in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.81. In the 800 meters, OSU clinched spots one through six, with redshirt senior Delia DeLeon leading the group and finishing with a time of 2:21.72 to take first. Junior Emily Perez, freshman Aleen Golla, and DeLeon went 1-2-3 in the 1500 meters, clocking times of 4:43.47, 4:43.73, and 4:44.12, respectively. 

On March 11-12, the Beavers wrapped the indoor season with the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. The distance medley relay team of redshirt junior Kaylee Mitchell, sophomore Adael Scatena, senior Mari Fridman, and redshirt junior Grace Fetherstonhaugh took fourth with a time of 10:58.76, and earned First-Team All-America honors. Fetherstonhaugh and Mitchell went on to place ninth (9:05.13) and 12th (9:08.58), respectively, in the 3000 meters, both earning Second-Team All-America accolades. For the first time since 1984, the Beavers scored at the NCAA Indoor Championships and tied for 33rd with Arizona and Florida State in the team standings.
