USC Track & Field Wins Three Events On First Day Of Trojan Invitational
Trey Knight won the men's hammer throw, Joy McArthur the women's hammer throw and Karlee Freeman the women's discus throw during the first day of the 2022 Trojan Invitational held at the South Bay Throws Facility in Wilmington, Calif. today (March 18). The Trojans won all three events they competed in at the new throws facility today. The remainder of the meet will be held at Loker Stadium on the USC campus beginning at 11 a.m. tomorrow (March 19).
- Knight had a personal-best throw of 233-3 (71.09m) to win the men's hammer throw by over 20 feet. He actually topped his previous PR of 227-7 three times, with a mark of 227-10 (69.46m) in the fourth round and 229-11 (70.09m) in the third round, before uncorking his final-round throw of 233-3. Knight's mark moved him from ninth to seventh on USC's all-time list. Christian Johnson placed fourth with a best throw of 208-10 (63.65m).
- McArthur won the women's hammer throw with a best throw of 210-8 (64.22m). Summer Mosley has a mark of 160-10 (49.03m) to finish sixth.
- Freeman had a discus throw PR of 181-1 (55.19m) to win the event and better her fourth-place standing on USC's all-time list. Mosley had a best throw of 164-3 (50.07m) to finish fifth.
