Wildcats Add Eight More Event Wins to Close Out Willie Williams Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats complete the final day of the Willie Williams Classic with eight more event wins to finish with a total of 14 event wins between both days of competition. The Wildcats will return next weekend on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 25-26, for the ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.

Day Two Highlights
Talie Bonds started the second day of competition by cruising to a first place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.26, which is the sixth-fastest time in program history. Zachary Extine also landed on the podium in the 110m hurdles with a second-place finish.

Three more Wildcats took home first place finishes in sprinting events, starting with Shannon Meisberger in the 400m dash. Meisberger ran the seventh-fastest time in outdoor program history with a new PR of 52.61. Fellow 400m runner Calvin Wilson won the men's side of the 400m with a new PR of 46.33. Trayvion White-Austin finished his successful two days with the third-fastest time in outdoor program history with a blazing time of 10.26 in the 100m dash.

Samantha Noennig returned from the NCAA Indoor Championships to place second in the discus throw with a throw of 49.06m (160'11"). Youssef Koudssi made it onto the podium as well, throwing a PR mark of 17.73m (58'2") in the men's shot put.

The jumpers continued their successful first meet of outdoor season with three more event winners. Two pole vaulters, Katie Daily and Tanner Kippes, both won their respective pole vault events with heights of 3.98m and 4.90m. The women's high jump swept the top four spots with Talie Bonds taking first with a jump of 1.70m, followed in order by Lillian Lowe, Diana Ramos, and Skylar Sieben.

The women's 4x400m relay ran an impressive 3:38.10 to win the event with runners Jenica Bosko, Anna Foreman, Dior Asemota, and Shannon Meisberger. The men won their 4x400m relay with a lineup that featured Ivan Zaharchenko, Isaac Davis, Trayvion White-Austin, and Calvin Wilson finishing with a time of 3:10.15.

Day One Highlights
Calvin Wilson gave the Cats their first win of the day in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.43. His time is currently the second fastest time in the NCAA in the event. Trayvion White-Austin scorched the men's 200m dash with a new PR of 20.89 to take home another event win for Arizona.

Neysia Howard carried her momentum from the indoor season into the first meet, coming in with a first-place finish and a PR of 23.68. Jenica Bosko came in close behind with her own PR of 24.22 and a third-place finish.

In throws, Mackenna Orie captured the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 15.85m (52'0"). Ava David got to the podium as well in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 54.47m (178'8").
The distance crew earned their first event win of the outdoor season with Iker Sanchez Lopez winning the 1500m with a time of 3:45.17 with his brother Ian Sanchez Lopez coming in right behind with a second-place finish of 3:46.08.

Grace Driskill placed herself on the podium in the 1500m run with a PR of 4:34.19. Meggie Karp closed out the day for distance with an outdoor PR in the 5000m with a time of 17:38.10 to finish second.

Reinaldo Rodrigues took home the gold in the men's long jump with a huge PR of 7.75m, which is the eighth longest outdoor jump in school history. White-Austin added his own PR with a second place jump 7.44m. Razeen Khaldun rounded out the top-five with his PR of 7.12m. Bosko found the podium again, placing second in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.74m.
