Forood Wins 500th, Card Blanks Utes

STANFORD, Calif. – Lele Forood, The Peter and Helen Bing Director of Women's Tennis, earned her 500th career win as head coach of the Stanford program, as the team rolled over Utah, 7-0, on Sunday at Taube Family Tennis Center. The Cardinal improves to 9-2 this season with a 3-0 mark in Pac-12 play.

Stanford cruised to a quick doubles victory, winning 6-3 on courts one and three. The duo of Ana Geller and Niluke Madurawe were first to finish, quickly followed by the tandem of Angelica Blake and Connie Ma to give the Cardinal a 1-0 lead.

The Cardinal was quick and efficient in singles play, posting straight-set wins on all six courts. For the second match in a row, Alexandra Yepifanova was first to win her match, while Sara Choy was close behind on court six to push the Stanford lead to 3-0. Connie Ma clinched the result on court one, 6-0, 6-2.

Stanford made the result all the more decisive on courts three, four and five with wins from Angelica Blake, India Houghton and Valencia Xu.

The Cardinal remains at home on Tuesday, March 22 for a non-conference bout with UC Santa Barbara. The first serve is set for noon.
