Oregon Seeks Strong Finish On Home Course

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon men's golf team is in eighth place in the 32nd annual Duck Invitational after shooting 20-over par across the first 36 holes on Monday at Eugene Country Club.
 
Playing through rainy conditions most of the day, the Ducks shot an 11-over 295 in round one before improving by two strokes with a 9-over 293 in the second round. No. 8 Washington holds the 36-hole lead at 16-under par, with Utah in second at 12 under.
 
How it Happened: The majority of Oregon's roster is in action on the Ducks' home course, with eight individuals joining the five-player lineup that counts towards the counting scores.
 
Owen Avrit was the top performer for UO's lineup on Monday, shooting back-to-back 1-over 72s to finish day one at 2-over par. Avrit enters Tuesday in a tie for 13th overall, with Washington's Chuan-Tai Lin leading the field at 8-under par and Utah's Blake Tomlinson in second at 7 under.
 
Craig Ronne and Gregory Solhaug each fired a 3-over 74 in round one, and Yuki Moriyama rounded out UO's counting scores on the first 18 holes with a 4-over 75.
 
Solhaug and Nate Stember both matched Avrit in round two with a 1-over 72, and Moriyama finished out the team score with a 6-over 77.
 
Among Ducks competing as individuals, Jose Islas was the top performer with a 74 in round one and a 73 in round two. Tom Gueant started the day with a 1-over 72, and Eric Doyle posted a 73 in the opening round.
