Program Record 10 Utes Earn All-Pac-12 Honors

Mar 23, 2022

SAN FRANCISCO – Ten Utah gymnasts have landed a spot on the All-Pac-12 Team this season, marking the most selections in program history. The 10 Utes combined for 16 awards, which is the most in the conference this season and the most all-time for the Utes.

Leading the team was freshman all-arounder Grace McCallum, who collected first team honors on every event and in the all-around. McCallum finished second in the all-around in the conference, tied for first on bars, tied for third on vault, third on floor, and fifth on beam. She finished the regular season with a 39.650 NQS in the all-around and better than a 9.90 NQS on every event. McCallum is one of two gymnasts in the Pac-12 to earn honors on every event this season and is the first Ute to do so since 2018.

Collecting two selections each were Maile O'Keefe and Cristal Isa as both Red Rocks posted first team honors on beam for the second year in a row. O'Keefe led the conference with a 9.970 NQS, while Isa followed behind in second place with a 9.960 NQS. O'Keefe also earned honorable mention honors on floor and Isa earned honorable mention on bars.

The Utah beam team landed five of the eight student-athletes earning conference honors. Behind O'Keefe and Isa was two-time Pac-12 beam champion Abby Paulson, who also earned first team honors for the second consecutive season. Paulson finished third in the Pac-12 on beam to give Utah a 1-2-3 finish on the event. McCallum ranked fifth on beam, while freshman Amelie Morgan earned honorable mention honors as Utah's leadoff the entire season to mark five Utes with a beam NQS of 9.910 or better.

The vault team tallied four honors this season as Lucy Stanhope finished tied with McCallum at a 9.905 NQS for her first selection to an All-Pac-12 team in her career. Jaedyn Rucker and the reigning Pac-12 vault champion Alexia Burch also earned first team honors on vault as the duo tied for sixth in the conference. It is Rucker's second time earning vault honors and the first first-team selection of her career, while Burch's first-team honor is her third consecutive on vault.

Rounding out the 2022 All-Pac-12 awards for the Red Rocks were Sydney Soloski, who earned first team honors for the third-straight season and finished second in the conference with a 9.960 NQS, along with freshman Sage Thompson, who earned her first career honor on the uneven bars.

The All-Pac-12 first team consists of the top six all-around performers, and top six performers in each individual event (including ties) based on national qualifying scores. All-Pac-12 honorable mention honorees consist of the seventh and eighth-place performances in each individual event and the all-around (including ties).

Utah Gymnastics is set to compete at the NCAA Seattle Regional next Thursday, March 31, at Alaska Airlines Arena. The Red Rocks will take on No. 13 Oregon State, Illinois, and the winner of the Stanford/San Jose State play-in meet. The top two finishers will advance to the NCAA Regional Final on Saturday, Apr. 2.
