Sand Devils Come Up Short In Two Home Duals

TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Beach Volleyball came up short in a pair of ranked matchups to No. 7 Grand Canyon and No. 8 Stanford at Arizona State's home facility on Thursday. 

Arizona State falls to 10-8 (2-1 Pac-12) on the season. The Sand Devils are now 1-7 against ranked teams this season. There were three matches that went to three sets, but ASU came up short in each of them. Previously, the Sun Devils had seen a lot of success in three-set matches, owning a 13-6 record coming into today.

Game One: No. 7 Grand Canyon 5 , Arizona State 0
In the second meeting this season between the Sun Devils and Lopes (14-4), GCU came away with the win again. Despite the sweep, Arizona State played tough at home, taking courts three and five to a third set and three sets on different courts going to extra points.

The second ranked dual of the day saw the same result as the first as ASU fell to Stanford (8-4, 2-2- Pac-12). The lone match to go to a third set came at the No. 3 pairs. It was Lila Bordis and Sarah Waters' second match to go to three today.
