USC's Maci Simmons, Trey Knight Shine At Texas Relays

Mar 24, 2022

Maci Simmons won the University/College women's 400m hurdles and Trey Knight had the top collegiate mark in the men's hammer throw during USC's first day of action at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium in Austin, Texas today (March 24).

  • Simmons won the University/College women's 400m hurdles with a PR of 60.23.  She was tops among the 36 runners and Simmons has improved her time in each race this season.
  • Knight took second in the men's hammer throw, first among collegians, with a mark of 228-2 (69.54m).  He had a strong series with two throws which would have been the top collegiate mark on the day.  Knight beat the second-best collegian by five feet, 2021 NCAA semifinalist Jake Norris, who finished third.
  • Joy McArthur placed fifth in the women's hammer throw with a best mark of 197-1 (60.08m).  That throw came in her final attempt which moved her from eighth to fifth.
  • Sam VanDorpe took second in the first heat and sixth overall in the men's 800m with a time of 1:50.36.

The Trojans' track and field team will have two more days of action at the Texas Relays. USC begins action tomorrow at 7:35 a.m. with the women's 4x100m relay.
